How it works
- 1.
Enter a VAT ID
Format: 2-letter country code plus the number (for example DE123456789, ATU12345678, FRAB123456789). Checksum validation is country-specific.

The request is forwarded to VIES. If valid, company name and address are shown (where the country permits).
- 3.
Archive the result
Pro users get bulk validation (up to 1000 IDs at once), CSV import/export, and VIES confirmation numbers for accounting records.
FAQ
Is this check legally binding?+
For a qualified confirmation under § 18e UStG you must use the BZSt query. Our tool calls VIES and is intended for day-to-day checks.
Which countries are supported?+
All 27 EU member states plus Northern Ireland (XI). Switzerland and UK (non-XI) are not part of VIES.
Why is a number sometimes unreachable?+
Individual country databases occasionally go offline. Retry after a few minutes.
